Urination problems are among the most common complaints in men, women, and children. Frequent urination, pain during urination, burning, cloudy urine, or changes in urine color may signal inflammation, infection, or impaired kidney function.

These symptoms should not be ignored. Early diagnosis helps identify the problem at an initial stage and avoid complications.

Main symptoms of urination disorders

If you notice one or more of the following signs, a urinalysis is recommended:

  • frequent urination
  • infrequent urination
  • pain and burning during urination
  • cloudy urine
  • unpleasant urine odor
  • changes in urine color
  • blood in urine
  • sensation of incomplete bladder emptying

These symptoms may indicate cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis, kidney stones, diabetes mellitus, or other conditions.

Causes of urination problems

Disorders may be caused by:

  • urinary tract infections (UTI) — the most common cause;
  • kidney stones;
  • impaired kidney function;
  • diabetes mellitus;
  • hormonal changes in women;
  • prostatitis or benign prostatic hyperplasia in men;
  • hypothermia or stress.

Benefits of rapid tests

The Yellow Butterfly rapid test allows you to perform a general urinalysis at home in 60 seconds. The test determines key parameters: glucose, ketones, pH, protein, leukocyte esterase, and nitrites.

For most parameters, the sensitivity and specificity of the test strips is approximately 90–95% when used correctly.

If deviations from normal are detected, it is recommended to consult a urologist for an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan.
