Frequently Asked Questions
When does cystitis become recurrent?
The recurrence rate after an episode of acute cystitis is very high — around 30–40% of women experience regular recurrences. Among these, 20–30% have a recurrence within 4 months of the acute episode. Cystitis flare-ups can be triggered by inflammatory pelvic conditions, inadequate treatment of the initial episode, poor hygiene, use of spermicides, sexual activity or hormonal disturbances.
When is cystitis considered secondary?
Cystitis is called secondary when it develops against the background of another bladder disease or a condition in adjacent organs — for example, benign prostatic hyperplasia, chronic inflammatory processes in the genitals, urolithiasis, or almost always when the patient has drainage tubes and/or catheters placed in the bladder.
What factors can trigger a cystitis relapse?
Inflammation of the bladder can also be triggered by: improper or uncontrolled use of antibiotics, cold exposure, venous congestion in the pelvic area, tight clothing, trauma to the bladder mucosa, hormonal disturbances, poor diet, and excess body weight.
How long do test strips last, and can they be used after the expiry date?
Test strips have a shelf life of 2 years. After this period they must not be used, as this may affect the accuracy of the results.
Are there any special conditions to observe before testing?
Test strips are individually packaged — one strip per sealed pack. Once the pack is opened, the strip must be used within 24 hours. Each test kit contains 3 strips.
What should I do if the app does not recognise the strip or shows an error?
Check that the test strip is correctly positioned on the reference card and that the scanning zone is within the app's camera frame. Try fully closing the app and reopening it. If the problem persists, contact support via the Telegram bot @yb_sup_bot.
How accurate is the express-test?
For most parameters (glucose, ketones, pH, protein, leukocyte esterase, nitrites), the sensitivity and specificity of the test strips are approximately 90–95% when used correctly.
How often can the test be used?
If a urinary tract infection is suspected (pain, burning, frequent urination) — 1–3 times per day as needed. For ketone monitoring in type 1 diabetes — 1–2 times per day when there is a risk. For preventive monitoring — 1–2 times per month in the absence of symptoms. Use of the test strips is harmless.
